Where do I buy Great Auto Insurance?

In today’s fast paced and connected world you can buy auto insurance just about anywhere. Sometimes the options seem endless. There are many options for buying auto insurance depending on what kind of relationship you are looking for. For those who always in a rush or may keep odd hours, the internet is an excellent option for buying auto insurance.

Many companies offer customers the options of changing their coverage, paying their bill, and filing claims online. Several large insurance companies have live agents available to chat and advise customers online of the best policies and coverage for their situation. If the internet isn’t for you, most companies have toll free numbers available and staffed with licensed insurance agents to set up and make changes to policies right over the phone.

Many are now twenty-four hours, seven days a week. You can usually set up your monthly payment plan at the same time and not have to worry about insurance for an entire year. Many people still enjoy the face to face meetings of having a local agent. A local agent provides someone who can meet with you to find your best options and will know your area well, allowing them to recommend body shops or giving you the flexibility of paying your bill in their office, rather than using the postal system. Whichever method you use, always have your key information at hand when buying auto insurance, this includes your driver’s license number and the VIN number to your car, plus a lien holder’s address, if you have one. This will make the process quicker and more accurate and allow the company to get you the best rates.

Are There Different Auto Insurance Policies?

Auto insurance comes as a policy which is purchased for cars, trucks and other automobiles. Depending on how you choose to personalize your policy in conjunction with state mandated coverage, your annual fee can be anywhere from $500-many,000. This amount may seem exorbitant, but thankfully this is normally softened by making a down payment, followed by six monthly payments.

Typically you are then given one month “off” and then another six months worth of payments. While the cost of a policy be overwhelming, the benefits and peace of mind it gives to you the owner and driver is priceless. It can protect you the driver and owner of the car from having to pay an expensive sum should you ever be involved in an accident. It can aid you in the cost of repairs, purchasing a new vehicle, paying for your medical bills and prevent you from facing a lawsuit if the accident is technically ‘your fault.’ If the accident were the fault of another motorist and they were illegally driving without insurance, your auto insurance would pick up the tab and ensure your well-being and assist in getting you back into a viable vehicle.

Furthermore, they now often offer more benefits that were so prevalent just a few short years ago. You can add in road-side assistance, car rental services and sometimes even package deals for traveling. In today’s economy and the need to draw in more customers; insurance companies are going the extra mile to give more bang for your buck. Auto insurance is safety net for you, those who drive or ride in your vehicle and even the other drivers on the road.

What is Auto Insurance?

Automobile insurance is contract between you and your insurance company. Each party agrees to abide by a contract. The insured (you) agree to pay your premiums on time, and your insurer agrees to provide certain coverage in the event of damage to your vehicle or person while operating the vehicle, or to others as a result of your driving. Coverage under an automobile policy can vary; always check your policy for information specific to you.

The basic coverage provided under an automobile policy is liability. This coverage provides a certain amount of money for those you may harm or for damage you may cause while driving. This coverage generally pays if you hit a pedestrian, damage another car, or cause an accident in which someone is hurt. There also may be medical coverage to cover any injuries you get while involved in a car accident or as a pedestrian. Not all states or policies provide this coverage. Some policies provide coverage to your vehicle, called collision and comprehensive. This coverage will pay for damage to your vehicle due to a car accident (collision) or damage from other causes (like a tree limb falling on your car, comprehensive).

This coverage generally has a deductible, or portion you must pay first. There are many other options available under insurance policies. Some companies offer towing and roadside assistance in case of breakdown or mechanical failure, rental car coverage is an option for when your vehicle is in an accident and you need alternative transportation, or gap insurance, to cover a debt to your lien holder in the even your car is damaged beyond repair and your settlement does not repay your loan. Always check with a licensed representative to obtain coverage best for your situation.

As A Good Driver I Don’t Need Insurance, Right?

Oh, if only that were true. the truth is you could be the best driver in the world but while driving down the road a drunk driver of another vehicle tears through an intersection and collides with you. If you are very lucky the offending driver has insurance but if they are breaking the laws by driving drunk chances are you are in for a rather large repair cost, if your prized possession is not a right off.

No matter how you look at it car insurance is a must for anyone who intends to buy a car. The real questions are what type of insurance, what is covered and is it affordable? Any reputable autos insurance agent should be able to help you out with this on the spot. Many companies even allow you to sign up on line and you and your auto are immediately covered.

Is this worth insuring?
